Entry Doors

The front door is curb appeal and a weather joint. We replace tired entry doors with insulated fiberglass or steel units, wood when the house truly wants wood and you will maintain it, and glass packages that do not turn the foyer into a cold room. The slab, the frame, the sill and the hardware are one system. A pretty slab in a soft jamb is not a replacement.

Included in this scope

  • Fiberglass, steel or wood slabs with a frame to match
  • Sidelights and transoms only when the opening and the architecture want them
  • A pan-flashed sill and a threshold tied to the porch or stoop
  • Deadbolt and hardware set that latches without a slam
  • Exterior trim that dies cleanly into the siding

Details that change the result

01

Fiberglass for this climate

It takes paint, does not rot the way a neglected wood door does, and does not dent like a thin steel skin. Wood is available when you want it and will finish it.

02

Glass without the heat loss

A full-lite door needs the same low-E conversation as a window. We spec the glass, not just the grille pattern.

03

The stoop has to agree

A new sill that is an inch proud of the porch collects water. We plan the height with the concrete or the deck board that lands there.

Questions

Before you call

Can you match a mid-century wood door?
With a flush or a stile-and-rail fiberglass, often closely. A true wood door can be built. We will show you both against the siding color before you pick.
What about the screen or storm door?
We can include one. Many new weatherstripped entries do not need a storm door, and a storm door on a dark entry can overheat the slab. We will say if we think you should skip it.
Do you change the lock hardware?
Yes. We set a new deadbolt and handset unless you want us to reuse a smart lock you already like — bring that up at the measure so the bore is right.
