Metal and Iron Fence Installation

Metal fencing is the open fence: ornamental aluminum that will not rust the way old iron does, and steel where you need a heavier line. We use it on frontages, pool barriers and side yards where a solid cedar wall would feel like a cage. Posts are set true, panels stay in line, and the finish is a powder coat meant for rain.

Included in this scope

  • Ornamental aluminum or steel panels in a powder-coated finish
  • Posts set to hold a rigid panel, not a flexible wood bay
  • Gates with self-closing hardware where a pool code requires it
  • A height and picket spacing that match the barrier rules in play
  • Touch-up and a note on how to keep the coating intact

Details that change the result

01

Aluminum over old iron

Traditional iron looks right and rusts at every weld in this climate. Aluminum ornamental gives the same line without the rust calendar. We will still repair existing iron if the frame is worth it.

02

Pool barriers are specific

If the fence is the pool barrier, latch height, climbability and gate swing are not style choices. We build to that standard and say so in the estimate.

03

It meets the cedar somewhere

Most properties want metal in front and wood privacy on the side. We detail the post where the two systems meet so it does not look like two contractors.

Questions

Before you call

Will metal rust here?
Powder-coated aluminum is the low-maintenance answer. Bare steel and old wrought iron need a coating plan. We will not install unfinished steel and call it done.
Can you match an existing iron fence?
Often with a new aluminum panel in the same picket rhythm, or with repair of the existing frame. We bring the decision to the estimate after we see the rust.
Is this the same as chain link?
No. Chain link is the utility fence. This page is the ornamental line. If you need a pet run or a side-yard enclosure, look at chain link.
